Hi aaeb279, beards are primarily seen in men due to high levels of male hormones called androgens e.g. testosterone. During development, some females might experience hormonal imbalance leading to them having levels of testosterone that are higher than they should be in the body. This results in growth of facial hair with a pronounced beard.
@aaeb279,
Funny, I usually have one of those on my chin, on and off. As Christina has explained, hair growth on the chin occurs in response to androgens. In females, these hormones are usually there but in very small amounts compared to the males. In addition, we are all mammals which means that we have hair covering most of our bodies, including our faces. The length and distribution of this hair will vary depending on a number of factors.
Therefore, for any facial hair to grow, two things are required-the hair follicles on the skin and androgens. When a woman has unusually high levels of androgens circulating, the follicles on her face respond by growing hair resulting in the beard. Such hair growth may also be caused by cells in the hair follicles that are more easily stimulated by androgens to make hairs, even when androgen levels are normal. High androgen circulation in females can be caused by abnormalities in the ovaries eg in women affected by polycystic ovarian syndrome. Some medications may have androgens, or stimulate the body to produce androgens resulting in facial hair growth. These medications may include those used in treatment of high blood pressure, migraines or even contraceptives.
On a lighter note, in my community, women who have facial hair are believed to be destined for financial prosperity! So, Im gonna be rich 😉

it might also be caused by gene mutation during development or at a certain age

girls growth of beards have always been mistaken to be abnormal but it is just as a result of genes and hormones of that particular person.
