      Period cramps are as a result of contraction of the uterine muscles as it is shedding its lining during menstruation. Remember that the thickening of the lining occurs in preparation for implantation and is due to a balance of hormones produced by the ovaries.
      During menopause, the ovaries can be said to be “exhausted ” and might not produce these hormones as expected. This results in either no or poor thickening of the uterine wall which leads to no menstruation
