      Mmh I would spend that money in setting a universal screening program of all children born. This way I will know from birth who has inherited sickle cell disease (to seek treatment early to prevent early death) and who is a carrier (advise them not to marry a carrier partner) and who is normal. This is happening in Europe but not in our set up.

      @abtb355,
      Most research and scientists work towards making lives better. If I had all the money in the world, I would first and foremost collect all the information we have so far on the status of research towards finding a malaria vaccine. I would then collaborate with the most powerful and most advanced of labs to fasten the studies towards getting a vaccine. This is said so simply but is so complicated in reality!
      Second, I would address the issue of malnutrition- I think in sub-Saharan Africa, this might be one of the keys to all our problems!

      lastly, some studies have showed that most rich countries do not have the malaria and other bad diseases. So I would empower populations with self sustaining solutions that will ensure that as a nation we can afford healthcare, good housing, water, food etc

      ….and my dreams are valid!

      If i had all the money in the world, i would use it to finance novel research initiatives that can help alleviate disease burdens i.e research on malaria, HIV,tuberculosis and cancer.
