Question: What is the purpose of banking road bends?

Banking of the road is where the outer edge of the road is raised to a suitable angle/elevation to the inner edge of the road, especially on road bends. Now, to explain why that is done: Banking is done to provide cars moving round a bend with a centripetal force (which is force acting on a moving body in a circular path and is directed towards the centre around which the body is moving) Without the banked the banked curves to help turn the vehicle, the vehicles’ force of inertia could make it skid off the road.
