Interesting questions! what kind of facts are you looking for? I really do not have an answer for you but by doing a search, I have come across all sorts of lists-stating interesting facts about the eyes from the number of times we blink to the tissues that make up the eye, or how the eye receives and transmits the information it receives.
Perhaps a fact that I find interesting that i have used in my studies is that the retina has been shown to develop from the same cells as that which the brain develops from during fetus formation.
In the study of cerebral malaria, we think that malaria parasites stick in the brain vessels. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm this in cases where the child is alive because we cannot reach their brain.This can only be done in post mortem examinations. However, blood vessels in the retina work the same way as those in the brain and using special equipment, we can look at the retina and confirm whether or not there are parasites sticking to these vessels. This enables doctors to differentiate children who have cerebral malaria from those who are in comma for other reasons such as bacterial infections.
